IR Classical Papers

In this page, I gather a list of classical Information Retrieval (IR) papers here. Sometimes, it is worth to read some historical papers to know how a research field evolves over time.

History

  1. Karen Sparck Jones, “Statistics and Retrieval: Past and Future,” iccta, pp.396-405, International Conference on Computing: Theory and Applications (ICCTA’07), 2007
This is an excellent review of the major ideas developed in IR research with especially detailed treatment of important ideas developed in early days by pioneers such as Luhn. Read the whole paper to know about the IR history.
